Where Craft Becomes a Calling
For more than 20 years, music and craftsmanship have been part of the same story for me. I was always drawn to making things with my hands, to precision, to sound, and to understanding why something works the way it does. In many ways, finding my way into this craft was only a matter of time.
I often say that I didn’t find bells. They found me. That happened in Kyiv, through one project that changed the direction of my life and turned an interest in craftsmanship and music into something much deeper.

My Story
My story with bells truly began in Kyiv in 2008, when I became part of the team casting new bells for St. Sophia’s Cathedral for the 1020th anniversary of the Christianization of Kyivan Rus. We worked alongside Professor Heorhii Chernenko and other specialists on a project that had to come together in an incredibly short time.
Twenty new bronze bells were created for St. Sophia’s bell tower, with a combined weight of 835 kg. The largest weighed 300 kg and the smallest just 4 kg. But the challenge was never simply to cast twenty bells. They had to belong together in sound. Their proportions, profiles and tuning all had to work as one musical system, with particular attention given to acoustics and tonal balance.
We had roughly two weeks to bring the project together. It was intense, precise work, and somewhere in that process something changed for me. I became fascinated not only by how a bell is made, but by how its shape, bronze, proportions and tuning become a voice. Taking part in the installation at St. Sophia’s made that feeling even stronger. I knew I wanted to understand this craft at a much deeper level.
That project became the beginning of everything that followed. I continued studying and refining the craft, eventually founding my own company and personally overseeing the casting process for more than 500 bells. Over the years, the work naturally expanded into bell towers, carillons, restoration, tower clocks, chimes and mechanical and electronic ringing systems. But the same questions that fascinated me in Kyiv are still at the heart of what I do today: how something is made, how it sounds, and how well it will serve the place it was created for.

My Philosophy
For me, this has never been just work. There is something deeply meaningful about creating something with your own hands and knowing that it may remain in that place long after you are gone.
A bell can ring for generations. A tower clock can become part of the face of a building and part of the everyday life around it. A restored piece can carry its history forward instead of losing it.
What I make today may one day become part of someone else’s memories, their church, their neighbourhood or their community.
That is why precision matters so much to me. A bell has to sound right. A mechanism has to work properly. A restoration has to respect what was there before. And anything made from the beginning should be made with the understanding that someone may still be looking at it, hearing it or relying on it many years from now.
More than 20 years after that first defining project in Kyiv, I still approach the work with the same curiosity and respect for the craft. The tools, projects and places may change, but that feeling has never changed. Every piece carries a little of the story that came before it, and I hope it becomes part of a much longer story after it leaves my hands.
